Your Aadhaar Card includes your name, residence, phone number, gender, and date of birth. To modify these details, you can visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Center or use the Unique Identification Authority of India's official website (UIDAI).

The UIDAI has recently announced revised rules for Aadhaar enrollment and updates. New forms have been introduced for both residents and non-residents (NRIs) who wish to enroll or update their Aadhaar information.

Aadhaar holders can now update their documents or information within ten years from the date of Aadhaar generation. This can be done conveniently through the UIDAI website or mobile app, or by submitting a form at an enrollment center.

These changes, effective January 16, 2023, improve the process for online updates, making Aadhaar enrollment and updates more accessible and comprehensive.

Note: Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents can be submitted for free on the UIDAI website until June 14, 2024.

Methods to Update Information in the CIDR

  1. Offline Update: Visit an Enrollment Center.

  2. Online Update: Use the official website or mobile application.

Updating Aadhaar Card Details Online

You can update your name, date of birth, address, and gender details online. Your mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar to make changes.

Procedure to Update Online:

  1. Visit the official UIDAI website.

  2. Click on 'Update Demographic Data and Check Status’. Log in using your Aadhaar and OTP sent to your mobile number.

  3. Enter the Aadhaar number and captcha.

  4. Click 'Send OTP' and enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.

  5. Select 'Update Demographics Data'.

  6. Choose the relevant options and click 'Proceed'.

  7. Make the necessary changes and upload the relevant documents.

  8. Review and submit the change request. Use the Update Request Number (URN) to track the status.

Details That Can Be Changed Online

You can change your address, name, gender, and birthdate information online. Other changes such as email ID, residential address, marital status, fingerprints, and IRIS data require visiting an Aadhaar enrollment center.

Updating Address Without Document Proof

The UIDAI allows address changes without providing address proof using the 'Request for Aadhaar Validation Letter'.

Steps Involved:

  1. Resident Initiates Request: Log in with Aadhaar details and enter the verifier's Aadhaar details. An SRN will be sent.

  2. Address Verifier Consents: Click the link sent to the verifier's registered mobile number, log in with Aadhaar details, and provide consent.

  3. Verifier Provides Consent: Log in with SRN, preview address details, change language if needed, and submit the request.

  4. User Completes: A letter with a secret code will be sent. Log in to the update portal, change the address using the secret code, and submit.

Updating Aadhaar Details at Enrollment Center

Procedure:

  1. Fill out the application correction form at the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center.

  2. Submit the form with the necessary documents.

  3. Pay a fee of Rs.25 for address changes.

  4. Keep the acknowledgment slip for reference.

Updating Mobile Number in Aadhaar

Procedure:

  1. Visit Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

  2. Complete and submit the Update/Correction Aadhaar Form including your mobile number.

  3. Provide biometrics for authentication.

  4. Pay a fee of Rs.50.

  5. An acknowledgment slip with URN will be provided. Use the URN to check the request status.

The new mobile number will be updated in Aadhaar's database within 30 days. No documents are required for this update.

Changing/Updating Name in Aadhaar

Procedure:

  1. Visit the Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Center.

  2. Fill out the Aadhaar Update Form with your current mobile number.

  3. The executive will register your request.

  4. Pay a fee of Rs.50.

  5. An acknowledgment slip with URN will be provided.

Updating Date of Birth (DoB) on Aadhaar Card

Procedure:

  1. Visit an Aadhaar Enrollment Center.

  2. Complete the Aadhaar Update Form with your birth date.

  3. Submit the form and proof of birth date.

  4. Provide biometrics for identity authentication.

  5. A receipt with URN will be provided.

  6. Pay a fee of Rs.50.

  7. The DoB will be updated within 90 days.

  1. Identity Proof: PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, etc.

  2. Relationship Proof: Passport, PDS Card, MNREGA Job Card, Pension Card, etc.

  3. Date of Birth Proof: Birth Certificate, SSLC Certificate, Passport, PAN Card, etc.

  4. Address Proof: Bank Passbook or Statement, Ration Card, Voter ID, Insurance Policy, etc.

Changes might be necessary for various reasons:

  • Name and address change.

  • Relocation.

  • Correcting errors like misspelled words or incorrect addresses.

  • Adjusting biometrics.

  • When a child turns 15 years old.
